Tour Description

Franciacorta is a hilly area stretching between Brescia and the lowest point of Lake d’Iseo in Lombardy. The most famous sparkling wine takes its name from the area, the second fermentation in the bottle tells us it is produced using the classic method. Viticulture has been present since prehistoric times, grape seeds dating back to the stilts were found here. Documents of the 9th, 10th and 11th century relating to monasteries of the area provide evidence of its importance in the medieval economy of Franciacorta.
We will have the opportunity to taste this delicacy combining it with local products; Robiola from Brescia, Fatulì from Val Saviore, Casolet Nostrano, Luganega, Soppressata, dried Sardines from Lake Iseo, the Pike. Two of the four days of the tour will be dedicated to our passion… golf. It was 1927 when GC Franciacorta was established in Borgonato. Renovated in 1986, it is one of the best Italian golf courses, designed by Pete Dye Marco Croze (1986: BRUT SATEN), Fulvio Bani (2009: ROSÈ). BRUT SATEN 18 Holes Par 73, BRUT ROSÈ 18 Holes Par 71, SATEN ROSÈ 18 Holes Par 70. Inside it features a bar, a restaurant, a wellness area, a pro- shop, 2 swimming pools and 2 tennis courts.
The following championships were held at international level: the Alpen Cup in 2000 and 2006, International Italian Ladies in 2007, European Masters Senior Championship and Cup in 2010.
After devoting the first day to playing golf we will get moving. GC Arzaga is our destination for the second day of the tour. Crossing the Val Trompia, with its hairpin bends winding through the peasant soul , nature and vast meadows used as pastures, we will arrive at Lake Idro, of glacial origin, at 370 m a.s.l., which is totally safe for swimming. As soon as we start heading downhill, we will be able to admire Lake Garda and the villages we will pass through on the fourth day in the Veneto coast to reach our final destination. A few more bends within the Alto Garda Bresciano regional park before being hosted at a luxurious hotel in the area near the Cervò GC. Designed by architect Kurt Rossknecht, the golf course has 36 holes, including 27 championship ones, divided into three routes, namely Benaco, Solferino, San Martino and 9 executive holes. Thanks to the latter ones, less experienced players can practice, while experienced ones can improve their performance.
Our tour will end at Villa dei Cedri at Colà di Lazise. We will do the tour of the upper part of Lake Garda. Riva del Garda, Navene, Malcesine, climb up to Mount Baldo. At Torri del Benaco will find signs to turn towards the hills, towards the Valpolicella area that is famous for the wine cultivated there ... Amarone. Curves, hairpin bends, historical villages, castles, villas, areas of extraction of Verona red marble, the stone of Lessinia, the production of classic style furniture and wrought iron, valleys and vineyards too. Recioto, Soave, Custoza, Lugana, Bardolino of the Garda inland area, Lessini Durello, Arcole in the lowlands and Valdadige in the land of forts are the wines produced in this province. These sensational wines are often served with the typical local products found on the laden tables of Verona, such as Vialone Nano Veronese PGI rice, used for delicious risottos with PDO red radicchio, cured meats like soppressa (a type of salami), the cheese and dairy products of Lessinia, the fish of Lake Garda and the rivers, the extra virgin olive oil, vegetables, cherries, peaches and their trees which during blossoming offer spectacular landscapes, PDO chestnuts and marroni on the highlands, apples, pears, melons and watermelons in the plains. And honey from the Lessinia area and the hills overlooking Lake Garda, truffles and Valeggio tortellini. There will also be plenty of desserts: the famous pandoro, the starshaped nadalin, the bovolone.
In the evening, after the Gala dinner, we will say goodbye at the Garda thermal park, a 13-hectare natural spa surrounded by rare plants and centuryold trees. And we are certain that it will be a mere farewell until the next tour!
